Nothing is insignificant when you serve God. Second, you remember that God uses every little thing. The Bible says that God “will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers” (Hebrews 6:10 NLT). So what do you do when you start to get discouraged? You remember two things.įirst, you remember that you’re going to receive a reward that’s going to go on for eternity. Sometimes you’re going to get discouraged. The truth is, serving God by serving others is not always easy. It is the mutual ministry of every believer in the family of God to every other believer in the family of God. ![]() The Bible uses these kinds of phrases 58 times: “Love one another.” “Care for one another.” “Pray for one another.” “Encourage one another.” “Help one another.” “Counsel one another.” “Support one another.” And on and on the list goes. That means you use your talents and gifts to make a contribution in life, to be a giver, not a taker. Not every Christian is a pastor, but every Christian is to be a minister. has made us what we are and given us new lives from Christ Jesus and long ages ago he planned that we should spend these lives in helping others” (TLB). He wants you to make the world a better place!Įvery time I hear somebody say, “I live for the weekends,” I want to say, “Then why should God keep you alive?” If you’re not fulfilling your purpose, you’re missing the whole point of life.Įphesians 2:10 says, “God. Ask, “What is God doing here? What’s the bigger picture? What’s the bigger perspective?” Then, you’ll be able to face the problem in faith.God did not put you on Earth just to live for yourself. Paul knows that God has a bigger plan, and he can be happy because he trusts what God is doing through his problems.Īny time you have a problem that’s starting to get you down, you need to do what Paul did: Learn to see it from God’s point of view. I wonder which had a bigger impact: his preaching in the Colosseum or the books he wrote, including Romans, First and Second Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians. There are two results that we know for sure.įirst, Philippians 4 says that within two years of Paul’s imprisonment, some of Nero’s own household had become believers because of Paul’s witness in the royal court in Rome. This isn’t Paul’s plan, but it was God’s plan all along, and it produces amazing effects. Who’s the real prisoner here? Who has the captive audience? Over two years in prison, Paul has the opportunity to witness to thousands of guards. ![]() And, Nero is a wicked and corrupt leader.Īs a royal prisoner, Paul is chained to a royal guard 24 hours a day for two years, and the guard is changed every four hours. Instead of sending Paul to Rome to preach crusades, God makes him a royal prisoner of Nero, who is Caesar at that time. His dream was to preach the Gospel in the most important city in the world.īut God had another idea. He says in Philippians 1:12, “ I want you to know, my dear brothers and sisters, that everything that has happened to me here has helped to spread the Good News” (NLT).Įver since Paul became a Christian on the road to Damascus, he had one great dream: He wanted to preach in Rome, the center of the universe at the time. No matter what’s going on in your life-the good, the bad, and the ugly-God is working out a plan. When you don’t see things from God’s point of view, you get discouraged, frustrated, and unhappy. If you want to be a happy person, you need to look at every problem from God’s perspective. ![]()
